Geology is a broad discipline that has been divided into the following specializations: geophysics, hydrogeology, engineering geology, deposit geology, mining geology, paleontology, tectonics and mineralogy. The knowledge acquired during the educational process concerned with the profession of a geologist technician is very diverse, and the qualifications obtained give a wide range of employment opportunities.

Geological works are carried out in any planned construction, modernization or infrastructure projects. These include geological, hydrogeological and geotechnical measurements and tests. Based on them, geological opinions are issued, the location of projects are decided on, and construction projects of facilities are prepared.

In the school year 2016/2017, 33 students (out of 51 students taking the exam) passed the vocational examination in the profession of a geologist technician, which consists of two parts: a written and an oral one.

In nearly all of Poland, the demand and supply for the professions related to the geological industry are balanced in the labor market. This means that the number of people who are interested and have professional qualifications to take up a job in the area of geology is the same as the number of offered jobs.

In the previous year 2017, a surplus of people in the occupations of meteorologists, geologists, and geographers occurred in the Podkarpackie Voivodship. For the rest of the country, the ratio of demand and supply concerned with these professions was balanced.

The average monthly salary of a geologist technician amounts to 4.500 PLN gross, while the median is 3.700 PLN gross: https://wynagrodzenia.pl/moja‑placa/ile‑zarabia‑geolog.

The situation in the labor market of the European Economic Area countries, i.e. covered by free movement of employees, can be observed, among others through the European Job Mobility Portal.

Geologia to szeroka dyscyplina, która została podzielona na specjalizacje: geofizyka, hydrogeologia, geologia inżynierska, geologia złożowa, geologia górnicza, paleontologia, tektonika, mineralogia. Wiedza pozyskana w trakcie kształcenia na kierunku technik geolog jest bardzo różnorodna, a zdobyte kwalifikacje dają szerokie możliwości zatrudnienia.

Prace geologiczne są prowadzone na terenie każdej planowanej inwestycji budowlanej, modernizacyjnej czy infrastrukturalnej. Wykonywane są pomiary i badania geologiczne, hydrogeologiczne i geotechniczne gruntów. Na ich podstawie wydaje się opinie geologiczne, decyduje o lokalizacji przedsięwzięcia, przygotowuje projekt budowlany obiektu.

W roku szkolnym 2016/2017 egzamin zawodowy, składający się z dwóch części: pisemnej i praktycznej, w zawodzie technik geolog zdały 33 osoby (z 51 uczniów podchodzących do całości egzaminu).

Na terenie niemal całej Polski popyt i podaż na zawody związane z branżą geologiczną na rynku pracy są zrównoważone. Oznacza to, że liczba osób, która jest zainteresowana i posiada kwalifikacje zawodowe do objęcia pracy w obszarze geologii jest tożsama z liczbą oferowanych miejsc pracy.

W poprzednim roku 2017 nadwyżka osób w zawodach: meteorolodzy, geolodzy, geografowie występowała w województwie podkarpackim. Dla pozostałej części kraju stosunek popytu i podaży tych zawodów był zrównoważony.
