Lesson plan overview (Process)
Introduction
1. The teacher defines the purpose of the course and gives the students criteria for success.
2. Talking about emotions. Examples of questions:
Have you ever done anything guided by emotions?
What was the situation?
What emotions did you feel then?
Would you do the same now, in retrospect?
Realization
1. Individual work: writing as many names of emotions as possible (ex. 1) within two minutes. The person who will write down the most nouns wins and should be rewarded.
2. A pun game. Each student chooses one emotion, preferably one of the less frequent ones (no: sadness, joy, anger, yes: melting mood, alarm, excitement etc.). Eager students present scenes, while others guess the emotions they illustrate.
3. Reading the text by Małgorzata Musierowicz entitled “Jak Kuba Bogu…”, paying special attention to the emotions of the characters. Brief overview: determining when and where the action takes place, who is involved in the events, which pushes the characters to action. Explanation of the title of the passage (ex. 4). Naming the characters' emotions (interactive board).
4. As a summary of the lesson, students recognize the emotions of people in the photos (ex. 5).
Summary
The teacher asks the students summarizing questions:
Why is the ability to recognize emotions so important?
What tells us about the emotions of the other person?
Is it possible to recognize the other person's emotions without words? How?
