Platform 1346 used to be a kitchen carriage for a train that transported soldiers during World War II. Maybe discovering the Wild Wild West? Unlike the westerns you might have watched, the surrounding area offers peace and quiet and a firepit to complete your wilderness experience. Platform 1346 looks rather old‑fashioned on the outside, but not to worry, the inside has been turned into a modern, open‑space unit that ensures a comfortable stay. From a kitchen with a big fridge to a king‑size bed, claw‑foot bathtub (when was the last time you bathed like that, huh?), and the shower, it certainly offers a high standard that even picky travellers will appreciate. The original windows, as is typical of a train, are big enough to let in plenty of light and make sure the holidaymakers can truly appreciate the surroundings. Check it out for yourself!

A true gem for plane lovers who wish their journey would never end so that they don’t have to step off the plane. If you’re one of those people, now you won’t have to. A few years ago, a private jet from the 70’s was permanently parked in a campsite in the Loire‑Atlantique region in France, conveniently close to various amenities to entice holidaymakers. The owners took care not to lose the airplane feel of it, keeping some of the seating, food carts, or cockpit dashboard. It’s got a regular kitchen, shower, and bedroom with a double bed as well as a deck outside to give you a little privacy from the other campers. Are you ready for awesome vacations to take off? Viewed from afar, that’s precisely what it looks like! A nose of Boeing 727 sticks out from among the trees on the Costa Rican coast, sort of suspended in the air, making you wonder if it’s taking off or crashing there. In reality, the 60’s airplane was brought to the Manuel Antonio National Park to be an exclusive part of a resort. Assembled on site on huge blocks of concrete, on the outside it looks as if it had crashed into the trees cutting off parts of its wings and diving through a hut that now circles the middle part where the doors are. Definitely one‑of‑a-kind experience, as the wooden hut‑like structure rests on the remains of the wings, creating a wide porch from which you can admire the surrounding jungle and the sea below. When was the last time you sat on a plane’s wing and admired the jungle and ocean you were hovering above? The deck is made of the same gorgeous wood as is the interior, which has been fully remodeled to create a suite of two bedrooms and a kitchenette. And you know what? I’m fine with that! The spacious suite is definitely a step up from a cramped airplane! For a few hundred bucks you can experience what a night in this place feels like, as well as make use of the amenities of the resort, such as pools and restaurants.

A picturesque, old train station in Shropshire, UK, is enjoying its second life, offering holidaymakers a destination rather than a journey. The quaint station house and two vintage train carriages from the 19th century have been lovingly preserved to show off their original windows and facades that fit in perfectly with the surrounding woodlands and lawns. Inside, gone are the old compartments so that the carriages could be converted into two and three‑bedroom apartments, complete with open‑plan kitchens and living areas which, contrary to the exterior, are up to the current century’s standards and design trends. This is all in the original style, so that we can get the full experience. Modern interiors are to be enjoyed everywhere, a missed opportunity for sure. Nevertheless, add to it the apartments at the station house and a few acquainted families should be able to spend a fantastic holiday in this historic area.
