Dinner Party!On Friday, my family is having a dinner party. My mom and dad are inviting over ten people. We need to buy so many things! Normally, we carry a shopping basketshopping basket, but for this dinner party, we’re using a shopping cartshopping cart.
First, we need to go to the produce sectionproduce section. My mom wants to make a few startersstarters. Starters are finger foodsfinger foods or light disheslight dishes. You eat them before the main coursemain course. One of our starters is a fresh tomato salad. We have to buy tomatoes and onions. We also need a few limeslimes and olive oil, so we can make a dressingdressing. We can’t forget to buy potatoes, too!
Then, we need to go to the meat sectionmeat section. The main course is steaksteak. It needs to be fresh, not frozen. Frozen foodsFrozen foods aren’t the tastiest. Next, we have to visit the dairy sectiondairy section. We need to buy butter and milk, to make a saucesauce for the steak. For dessert, my mom wants to make a carrot cake, so we need dried fruitsdried fruits. She also wants to buy some peanutspeanuts. Our family loves peanuts, so we always buy a huge bag and use it for weeks!
Finally, we need to buy some canned foodscanned foods. We can find them in the general grocery itemsgeneral grocery items section. My dad wants to make tomato soup for the guests, so we need to buy canned tomatoes. We also need canned pineapple for the fruit salad. The very last thing we need to buy is breadbread and candycandy. We need to go to the bakerybakery to buy some fresh bread. As for candy, they’re for me! There’s a section where you pick candy and weighweigh it yourself. My parents let me pick candy.
Then, we just go to the check‑outcheck‑out and pay for everything. There are plastic bagsplastic bags you can use to pack your food, but we always use paper bagspaper bags. They’re better for the environmentenvironment! You can use paper bags, too.
