When his father dieddied, George stopped going to school. He was 11 years old then. When he was 22, he became an officerofficer in the French and Indian WarWar.
George Washington was the first American president. People electedelected him twicetwice, in 1789 and 1792. He createdcreated the ConstitutionConstitution of the United States. He was a great president and people liked him a lot. People called him the “Father of His CountryFather of His Country.” He didn’t want to be the president for the thirdthird time.
