A café around the cornerThere’s a nice cafécafé next to our house. My sister and I go there three times a week. The problem is that my sister is the worst client ever. Each timeEach time, we stand by the counter and look at the sweets and pastriessweets and pastries. I always know what I want. Sometimes, I order doughnutsdoughnuts. Other times, it’s carrot cakecarrot cake. I choose what I want quite quickly. And when it comes to picking drinks? That’s easy, too.
“I would like a large green tea,” I say. I always drink tea. But then, my sister starts choosing.
“What do you recommendrecommend?” she asks the nice lady behind the counterbehind the counter.
“Our clients love the cupcakescupcakes. They have over ten flavours,” the lady says.
“I don’t like cupcakes,” my sister says. “They have too much sugar.”
The lady recommends many things: browniesbrownies, cherry piescherry pies, apple piesapple pies and biscuitsbiscuits. My sister doesn’t like anything.
“What do you suggest, Jesse?” She finally turns to me.
“Order a doughnut,” I say. “Their doughnuts are really tasty.”
My sister thinks for a long time. She can’t see that there are other people waiting. It makes me feel really bad. Finally, she orders a cupcake. She always ordersorders the first thing that the lady recommends. But then, she needs to choose something to drink. There are too many choices. The café sells teatea, coffeecoffee, waterwater, and fizzy drinksfizzy drinks. It takes my sister ten minutes to decide what she wants to drink.
“I would like a coffee,” she says finally. “I want you to add a lot of almond milkalmond milk.
I also want two spoons of brown sugar.”
“I thought you didn’t like too much sugar,” I say to my sister.
“Stop judgingjudging me,” she says. Then, she turns towards the nice lady again. “Could I have a sandwich too?”
Then my sister orders a sandwich for another five minutes. She takes one for me, too. Finally, we take our food and drinks and find a table. My sister asks why I look so unhappy. I don’t say anything. I just sit quietly, eat my food and drink my tea. I still love my sister very much. She’s not the best client, but she’s the best sister ever!
