The Best Concert EverHi guys,
I’m glad so many of you subscribe to my “Mark and the Music” blog. Today I’m going to tell you about something incredible that happened last weekend.
We celebrated my birthday on Friday the 6th (by the way – thanks for your birthday wishes!) and I got the biggest surprise ever! My grandpa Ben gave me a ticketticket to a real rock concert! It was a giggig by my favourite band, The Rocksters! The Rocksters are fantastic and they play concerts at stadiumsstadiums and concert hallsconcert halls all over the world!
As some of you may know, my grandpa used to be a lead singerlead singer in a rock group himself. His band was called The Ghastly Guitars. They weren’t very well‑knownwell‑known and performedperformed in small venuesvenues but they had a lot of fun. They played together for more than 20 years! When grandpa was in the band, he had long hair and wore torntorn jeans and leather jackets with studsstuds. Now grandpa doesn’t look like a rock singer – he is baldbald and wears casual clothescasual clothes.
Let’s go back to The Rocksters’ concert. The venue was this stunningstunning modernmodern concert hall in the city centre. We went there by bus because parking is horrible downtown. We could see heavy trafficheavy traffic round the place and crowds of people heading towards the gatesgates and box officesbox offices. Can you imagine that five thousand people bought tickets to that concert? I could feel the atmosphere of excitementexcitement in the air. Our sector on the tickets was a VIP, or a very important person sector, really close to the stagestage!
I could see the enormousenormous speakersspeakers and lots of other musical instruments and equipmentequipment waiting for the band. And then suddenly they were on the stage! The Rocksters themselves! The audienceaudience started to cheercheer and stampstamp their feet. Without saying a word, the two guitaristsguitarists and the drummerdrummer started to play. The music was loud and wild. I could feel the floor and the air vibrate. It was an amazing moment I will never forget. The Rocksters played all the biggest hits and a few songs from their new album. To my astonishmentastonishment, grandpa knew all the lyricslyrics and we shouted them out together jumping and clappingclapping our hands.
The three hours went bywent by in no time. Rob, the band leader, shouted “Thank you guys! You’ve been awesomeawesome!” and the band went backstagebackstage. The crowd started chantingchanting “Rocksters! Rocksters!” passionatelypassionately, and after a while the band came back on the stage to play one more song. That was it. The crowd began to head forhead for the exits.
Suddenly I saw grandpa talking to Rob, the band leader! I couldn’t believe my eyes! Grandpa was wavingwaving to me impatientlyimpatiently. I realised it was an extraordinaryextraordinary photo opportunityphoto opportunity and ran towards them with my phone ready. We took the photo and guess what! Grandpa asked Rob for a special birthday autographautograph for me! Now I have the concert ticket with Rob’s signaturesignature and his birthday wishes on my bedroom wall! I still cannot believe my luck!
What about you guys? Have you been to a concert recently? Can you recommend a gig worth seeingworth seeing? Write to me in the box below!
Till next time!
