Understanding Climate ChangeClimate changeClimate change caused by global warmingglobal warming is very dangerous for our planet. Where does it come from, what are its effects, and finally, is there anything we can do to stop it?
CausesCauses
The greenhouse effectgreenhouse effect happens because of gases such as COIndeks dolny 22. They travel into the atmosphere. As a result, the temperature on Earth becomes higher. There’s nothing wrong with that. The problem starts when there are too many emissions of greenhouse gassesemissions of greenhouse gasses. They result from burning fossil fuels like natural gas, oil, and coal. As you probably know, exhaust fumesexhaust fumes from cars are a big cause of the greenhouse effect.
Effects
Climate change has an effect on the weather. We experienceexperience more extreme weatherextreme weather because of it. There are more floodsfloods destroying cities and droughtsdroughts destroying crops. This is also the reason why some foods become more expensive. We also experience high temperatures and violent storms, including sandstormssandstorms in the desert or blizzardsblizzards in winter. High temperatures also make the ice caps meltice caps melt, which causes sea levels to risecauses sea levels to rise.
Is there anything we can do to stop it?
So what can we do to stop this negative change? We can reduce the amount ofreduce the amount of fossil fuels used. For example we can buy locally and walk more instead of driving. What is more, we should start using renewable energy sourcesrenewable energy sources, such as solar energysolar energy or wind energywind energy. At home we should start using energy‑savingenergy‑saving appliances.
Every person can be eco‑friendlyeco‑friendly. How? Thanks to the 3Rs principle3Rs principle: Reduce, reuse, recycleReduce, reuse, recycle! Try to reduce your energy usage by switching to energy‑saving light bulbs, reuse plastic bags, and recycle everything that’s possible from glass to paper.
