PresentationpresentationPresentation files can be saved in various file formatsfile formatfile formats depending on the requirements of a speaker (the author) or an audience. The most popular file formats of these files are:
a presentation – a default file format; a file saved in this format can be freely edited and changes can be saved,
a slide showslide showslide show – a format that enables the presentation of a slide show without the possibility of changing the presentation content; after the file is opened the presentation will run automatically.
Apart from the two basic file formatsfile formatfile formats mentioned above, presentationpresentationpresentation programmes usually enable savingsavingsaving presentations in several other alternative file formats. For example PowerPoint, apart from pptx files (a presentation)and ppsx files (a slide showslide showslide show) offers the following file formats:
pdf – useful for printing presentations,
xps – an alternative to the pdf file format for storing and viewing a document,
a film in the mp4 and wmv format,
the Open Document format, which enables moving documents between the programmes of different producers,
the file formats supported by the older versions of PowerPoint: ppt and pps,
moreover, the slides of a presentation can be saved as graphics; many file formats are available: gif, jpg, png, tiff, bmp.
In order to save a presentationpresentationpresentation in one of the file formatsfile formatfile formats described above, after selecting the option Save/Save as in the save tool window, on a drop‑down list just below the File name box, in the Save as type box you must click the file format in which want to save your file.
