The UN is indeed the most efficient guarantor of the world’s peace.

Hi Mary,

Hope you’re fine. I want to tell you about a documentary I have recently watched. It was about the United Nations.

The Organisation was created in 1945 by 51 countries. The main purpose was to safeguard peace and security. Nowadays, the UN has got a list of ambitious goals such as ending poverty or promoting sustainable development.

The UN has got six organs which regulate its functioning. For example, the Secretariat deals with all administrative and organisational issues. The General Assembly votes on and passes resolutions.

The UN has its shortcomings and does not always react in time to prevent conflicts or acts of genocide. It is said that some reforms should be introduced to make the functioning of the UN more efficient.

Nevertheless, I strongly believe that the UN is a very important forum where peaceful discussions can take place and disputes can be resolved. Its role in safeguarding global peace is essential.
