1. I think living in a flat has got many advantages. One of them might be the fact that you have got many people around you, so you are never alone. Another one is that it’s cheaper than buying a flat or house. What is more, you can always change the flat you’re living in. In my opinion, the fact that you can live in the city centre is also a huge advantage if you work or study in the heart of the city.
2. As for cons, I think that you pay monthly rent but the money disappears. I mean, if you buy a flat, it’s a kind of good investment while renting gives you nothing. Another disadvantage is that you have to use the flat according to some rules. You don’t have complete freedom. What is more, the landlord can always change their mind and you have to move again, which is not easy.
3. I believe I would rather rent a flat. I’m terrified of things like mortgages and huge bank loans. I also love my freedom. When I’m bored with a place, I can always move out and look for a better place to stay. To be honest I can’t see myself being responsible for paying council tax or all the repairs related to owning a flat or house. That scares me a lot!

Hi, Jenny!
Guess what! I’ve found my dream flat! I’ve just moved in. My friend’s father is an estate agent and he helped me look for the perfect place for me. And here it is!
You won’t believe who the landlord is. It’s Jenny’s mother! Yes, our best friend’s mum! She’s so kind and friendly.
I’m going to pay only $200 a month. It’s cheap, isn’t it? Unfortunately, I also had to pay the deposit. It was $300.
Anyway, I’m going to live here for a couple of years so I think it was worth it. Of course, it depends on my budget but I'm planning to stay in this flat till I finish university.
