I have never tried so called DIY activities. I always thought they were extremely demanding and not worth trying. However, now I would like to try to create my own gadgets such as handmade photo frames or some decorative organisers. Not only are they beautiful decorations, but also it might be a good idea to give them as gifts. I found out there are a lot of how‑to videos on the internet showing instructions. Moreover, tools are accessible, even in my parents’ garage there are hex keys and lots of screwdrivers, so I don’t have to worry.

Write an article for the school newspaper encouraging pupils to participate in activities organised by the local community centre, outlining the benefits of developing creativity.

Recently, so many fascinating workshops have been introduced by our Local Community Centre that, to my mind, you should all give them a try!

To my surprise, the Local Community Centre offers an unbelievably wide variety of classes. Sign up for soap making workshops to form wonderfully scented soaps that can be given to your nearest and dearest as exceptional gifts. You can pick up pottery classes where you can make your own bowls or mugs. You will be provided with the pottery wheel, clay and rollers. My number one is candle making workshop! The instructors will teach you how to make a cotton wick and pour wax into a glass vessel. There are far more activities to choose from such as felt art, photography or jewellery classes.

I strongly believe that participating in such classes has a long list of benefits. First of all, they are a wonderful opportunity to build up our own self‑esteem and stimulate our imagination. Learning each skill requires patience and motivation. Art and craft classes provide you with both. What’s more, they encourage us, students, to think out of the box and put some effort into creating something new. Finally, art classes also encourage us to continue improving our skills.

So what are you waiting for? Head for the Community Centre as soon as your lessons are over and choose the best classes for you!
