The Internet enables people from all over the world to communicate, but it also carries a high risk, associated with the fact, that the network usersusers are anonymous. Being an anonymous participant of the Internet communicationInternet communication favours the offensive or dishonest behaviour. Some people try to create a false image of themselves, they want to demonstrate that they mean something, and so they become obtrusive and aggressiveaggressive.
Is the Internet important to you? How often do you use it? Can you imagine life without the Internet? Discuss it in class.
Create a text concerning different types of behaviour on the Internet. Match the information in the frames to the sub-headings.
The Internet plays an increasing role in peoples’ lives.
Many people cannot imagine life without the Internet access ,
the ability to check e-mails or to update their social network profile., Many organizations in Poland actively support
the Internet safety of children and young adults. For example, the Nobody’s Children Foundation
deals with the children's rights protection and provides help to
the child victims and their parents., In both, everyday life and in the virtual world,
the rules of good behaviour are often violated.
That is why the Internet users have created an unofficial set of
rules of the proper online behaviour, called
netiquette. Ethical on-line behaviour consists, of
treating other Internet users with respect,
and without prejudice, passing on the real information,
not imposing our own opinions
and avoiding a negative assessment of the recipient.
