The demand for lifting equipment technicians has been growing for a few years now. The industry or the construction business could not develop without these specialists.

The basic tasks of a lifting equipment technician include taking job orders, planning and carrying out repairs, assemblies, overhauls and maintenance operations of stationary and mobile lifting equipment. A lifting equipment technician is responsible for ensuring that lifts and lifting devices, such as a chute conveyor or a passenger lift, do not fail. One of the duties of a lifting equipment technician is also to check whether the lifting devices and machines function correctly.

The basic requirement in this profession is the skill of reading technical drawings. This is a job for a analytical mind. It is crucial that all the work is done with precision. Due to the fact that a technician works with heavy structures and materials, it is essential to know and follow the OHS rules. Apart from that, this profession requires such traits as technical skills, meticulousness, the ability to concentrate, a sense of responsibility, and patience.

One should not take up this profession in case of: lack of binocular vision; a hearing impairment; a balance disorder; colour vision defects; nervous system, cardiovascular, respiratory, musculoskeletal system and muscular system diseases; diabetes; rheumatism; allergies or low physical function.

A person trained in this profession may find employment as a technical inspector, as a lifting equipment installer, at lifting equipment design offices or in companies dealing with lifting equipment repairs.
