The profession of a cosmetic services technician lies within the tertiary sector of economy and therefore the subject of their work is a human. The job has a highly hygienic and aesthetic character. It includes beauty and therapeutic skin care and improvement of both pretty and healthy look of a client and their well‑being.

A cosmetic services technician handles a lot of tasks related to client service. They conduct a skin diagnosis, perform care and beauty treatments, offer cosmetic advice, and run a beauty studio.

A cosmetic services technician should meet the following character requirements:

  1. general good health condition,

  2. good vision and hearing,

  3. high manual skills,

  4. proper pronunciation,

  5. interpersonal skills, and the ability to work with people,

  6. ability to convince a client to change their ways,

  7. wide knowledge of the discipline,

  8. and a general knowledge of marketing strategies and psychology.

Due to the fast technological and biochemical development of the discipline, a cosmetic services technician must aim at constant self‑improvement. A cosmetic service technician will find employment in:

  1. beauty and hair studios,

  2. spa centres,

  3. beauty parlours,

  4. pharmaceutical and cosmetic companies,

  5. and fitness centres.
