A solid minerals processing technician is in charge of the last stage of exploitation of the deposit excavated from underground, that is its processing. This line of work requires technical aptitude, good health, psychophysical fitness, perceptiveness, reflex, meticulousness and foresight. A person working in this profession can work in mining plants, stone processing plants, aggregate producing plants, scientific and research institutions, institutions dealing with environmental protection, and mining waste processing plants. Typically, work takes place in huge production halls, where the solid minerals processing technician is exposed to specific conditions like artificial lighting, forced ventilation, dust or noise. There’s also the risk of suffering an electric shock or accidents caused by incorrect use of the machines. Performing the profession of a solid mineral processing technician involves teamwork. The person in this position supervises the quality of the products, the action of processing solid minerals, and also organizes and supervises the work of a subordinate team of employees. A solid minerals processing technician must have the knowledge of the layers of the earth, their properties and methods of its treatment. Such person should have experience and still develop his or her knowledge about the process of classification, grinding and enrichment of solid minerals. They are also responsible for preparing concentrates for processing, for purifying wastewater, in concentrating and dewatering mules and in drying and processing of sediments. The technician operates at work many machines, such as screens, dryers, crushers, jiggers and concentrators. Knowledge about the operation and mechanisms of these machines, work control and cleanliness of machines is indispensable.
