My dream vacation
how to order the information necessary for preparing the presentationpresentation,
how to order correctly the information collected for preparing the presentation.
Before the lesson, prepare the following
Your team's task is to choose an interesting place to visit during the holidays.
a) Agree on the destination to visit.
b) Each of you individually at home searches for information and photos about this place and the attractions nearby.
c) Use e‑mail to determine which attractions you want to include in the presentationpresentation and send one another selected photos and texts.
Organizing information
In the computer you can create folders (directories) and subfolders (subdirectories) that will help you orientate yourself in the collected materials.
Create a folderfolder and name it „holiday”. In it create five subfolders and give them names of selected attractions.
In each of the folders, place a text documenttext document containing information about the given attractionattraction and a sub‑folder with the name „photos”.
How to create a folderfolder?
To create a new folder, follow the steps below.
Right‑click in an empty area on the desktop or in the directorydirectory window, point to New, and then click Folder.
Enter the name of the new folder, and then press Enter.
You can open each folder by clicking on its icon and checking its contents. The opened folder is a window similar to the program window.
Create a text documenttext document with the name Description. For each attractionattraction, provide in the document information about it, found on the Internet, such as:
name of the object;
address and location;
opening hours;
ticket price;
date of establishment;
information, why it is worth visiting a given tourist attraction.
For each attraction in the „photos” folderfolder, place at least one photo found on the Internet showing the attraction. For each
information / photo used, please provide the sourcesource and, if possible, the author.
Creating text documents
To write text using a computer, do the following.
Start the program for writing texts.
At the location of the flashing cursor, start writing.
Start each sentence with a capital letter using the Shift key.
To make space between words, use Space.
To start the text from the new line, use the Enter key.
Remove an incorrectly written letter using Backspace or Delete.
You can save the document created in this way. Use the Save As command if you want to save it for the first time or you want to change the saving location or file name. Use the Save command if you want to save your changes to a previously saved document.
Collected and organized information should be used to prepare a short, ten‑minute presentationpresentation. Plan it carefully.
Creating a presentation
When creating a presentation, use the following rules.
Choose a simple font without unnecessary decorations and set its size so that you can read the text even from a distance. Make a test already at the design stage. All you need to do is to move away a few steps from the monitor after starting the slide show and check the result.
Remember to put only the most important information on the slide. Too much text can discourage the recipient. During the show, you can supplement verbally missing information.
Insert photos or your own drawings that will bring the subject of your presentationpresentation closer to the audience. Graphic elements will make the message more attractive and helps understanding the topic.
Make sure all objects on the slide are properly arranged. When planning this, use the entire area of the slide. If you choose a slide with a ready layout, you will not be able to change the position of its elements.
Do not forget to choose the background colour and font so that they match and the text does not blend with the background. The light coloured font will look good on a dark background, while the dark font will look good on a light background.
Below you will find an example of a presentation about London's tourist attractions. See it. Maybe it will inspire you.
