Lesson plan overview

Before classes

  • Volunteers get acquainted with the content of the abstract and prepare a knowledge quiz for their colleagues.

Introduction

  • The teacher explains the aim of the lesson and together with students determines the success criteria to be achieved.

  • The teacher plays the abstract recording for all students. Participants listen carefully and give feedback on the difficulty of the text being heard using the traffic light method. Students are provided with green, yellow and red cards. While listening to the recording, they display the appropriate color for self‑assessment and to inform the teacher:
    green - I'm fine, I understand everything;
    yellow - I have some doubts;
    red - I do not understand anything, please help.
    The teacher responds depending on the needs of the students, deciding to repeat the recording, listen to the recording while following the text or translate the text.

Realization

  • The teacher asks students to give arguments why the movement is important? Writes all ideas on the board. Then students choose the 5 advantages of the movement, which the teacher emphasizes.

  • Students will get acquainted with the graphic „Nutritional value of chocolate bar and chocolate”. The teacher asks pupils to count how many kcal has their favorite bar, and then using the graphic „Burning calories in different types of physical activity”, they determine what kind of activity they have to take and how long it must take to burn these kilocalories.

  • The teacher asks pupils to write their physical activity in a table containing three columns on physical activity: daily, 3‑5 times a week and 2‑3 times a week. Then the teacher displays the graphic „Pyramid of physical activity” - students compare their entries with those proposed in the graphic.

  • The teacher offers pupils to conduct a mid‑gymnastics. It draws attention to the order of exercises performed: from the top of the body to the bottom or vice versa.

  • The teacher asks students to carry out the recommended interactive exercise themselves.

  • The teacher asks students who is taking part in the Paralympic Games? Explains the concept of Paralympics to students. Students read the chapter „The disabled can also exercise” and perform an interactive task.

Summary

  • The students, selected before the lesson, present their knowledge quiz related to the topic of the lesson. The class answers questions. The teacher assesses the activity and involvement of students.

  • The teacher asks that the willing pupil / students present a set of physical exercises to be carried out at school.

Homework

  • Listen to the abstract recording at home. Pay attention to pronunciation, accent and intonation. Learn to pronounce the words learned during the lesson.

Moving is healthy

Movement is needed to keep our body in good health. It makes us stronger and more resistant to fatigue. Physical activity has a positive effect not only on our body – it also improves well‑being and provides a good mood. It also allows you to maintain a proper body weight. Outdoor movement can increase our resistance to disease. However, you must remember to adjust clothes to the weather, that is, dress so as not to overheat or freeze.

It is often said that when we move, we „burn calories”. This means that we consume energy, which we have taken from food, turning it into movement. The amount of this energy is measured in units called kilocalories (kcal). The energy of food is also expressed in kilojoules (kJ). When we eat too much and move too little, we get fat. Even the simplest activities allow us to burn calories and take care of a healthy figure.

It is recommended to do moderate exercise for 30 minutes a day to maintain health. The healthiest morning exercise is that helping to get going before classes at school. It should be done before breakfast, immediately after the night rest.

Morning gymnastics have many advantages: it helps maintain proper body weight, protects against obesity, prevents postural defects and improves physical condition. If family members do it together, the ties that connect them are also strengthened.

People with physical disabilities have the same need for movement as their able‑bodied peers. Physical activity is also of great importance in rehabilitation and can positively affect the improvement of their health and well‑being.

People with disabilities can practice the majority of sports disciplines that people with disabilities take. However, the rules and equipment used in the competitions should be adapted to the degree and type of disability. Sport is a struggle with its weaknesses and a method to prove to oneself and others of its own worth.

  • Physical activity is necessary to maintain the health and proper condition of your body.

  • Physical activity can take many forms depending on your age and fitness.

  • Team games are an interesting form of activity that, apart from improving fitness, shapes the attitude of fair competition, or fair play.

  • Disabled persons can practice most sports that are trained by non‑disabled people. All you need to do is provide them with the right equipment for the exercises and eliminate the obstacles to physical activity.
