Lesson plan overview

Before classes

  1. Before the planned repetitive lesson, the teacher asks all students to recall the material of the e‑textbook from „Human rights”, „Universal system of human rights protection”, „Violations of human rights”, „Human rights protection in Poland”, „European system for the protection of human rights „, in order to be able to summarize the material read in your own words and solve the tasks and take part in the discussion.

  2. Volunteers get acquainted with the content of the abstract and prepare a knowledge quiz for their colleagues.

Introduction

  1. The teacher presents the aim of the lesson: You will consolidate the message, skills and vocabulary regarding human rights and their protection.

  2. The teacher divides the students into 5 groups. Each of them is assigned one adjective defining human rights. He informs that their task is to describe what they mean to students.

  3. After the appointed time, the teacher displays Exercise 2 on the interactive whiteboard, and the groups put their explanations on the board. The teacher initiates a short discussion.

Realization

  1. The teacher plays the recording from the „Violations of human rights” (exercise 5; work in groups) lesson. Students prepare up to three questions related to the content of the text they heard so that they can check if their colleagues understand it well. Their task will also be to prepare predicted answers to the questions.

  2. After the preparatory phase, a competition phase begins. Each group must respond to questions prepared by other groups based on the abstract generator. The teacher controls the course of the game, checking the correctness of the answer and noting the current status of the points. The group that wins the competition should be rewarded by the teacher with the appropriate grade.

  3. The teacher initiates discussions about human rights violations. Students present their opinions. Then they perform Exercise 6. Their task is to present examples of violations of human rights in various spheres of life that are known to them from history or nowadays. Proposals are placed on the interactive board and discussed.

  4. Students carry out the interactive exercises checking the level of knowledge learned during the lesson. The teacher initiates a discussion during which the correct solutions for all the exercises performed by the students are discussed.

  5. The teacher divides the class into groups. He informs that their task will be to analyze the problem of „Is the European system for the protection of human rights effective?” (Exercise 9). After the set time, the groups present their metaplates and compare them with the other proposals.

Summary

  1. The students, selected before the lesson, present their knowledge quiz related to the topic of the lesson. The class answers questions. The teacher assesses the activity and involvement of students.

Homework

  1. Listen to the abstract recording at home. Pay attention to pronunciation, accent and intonation. Learn to pronounce the words learned during the lesson.

  2. Prepare 5 questions about the area that could be found on the test of the lesson.
