When discussing indigenous groups, you might feel compelled to generalise about them. How to avoid that? Always remember that a sense of belonging to a particular group doesn’t change how someone identifies themselves on a personal level. Yes, they share features belonging to a specific group but each person is unlike anyone else. You’d probably feel it’s insufficient to describe you only based on your ethnicity too. Keep that in mind when talking about indigenous peoples!
