Obliczenia związane z czasem – zegar
Learning objectives
You will learn to read and write hours with different ways and to use various types of clocks.
Learning effect
You do simple calculations related to clocks.
Think about answers to questions:
- What devices are used to measure time?
- When is it important to know the exact hourhour?
- How many hours a dayday does an average student spend at school?
- How many minutes is the mathematics class?
- What time is it now on the class clock?

How much time passed from the hour 8:00 till the hour 14.20? Analyse the example.

Calculate how much time passed:
a) from the hourhour 16:15 till the hour 16:28
b) from the hour 14:05 till the hour 14:54
c) from the hour 15:55 till the hour 16:20
d) from the hour 8:05 till the hour 17:35
e) from the hour 23:10 till the hour 06:15
Illustrate the examples graphically.
Write how many minutes is:
a) 1 h 25 min
b) 3 h 5 min
c) 2 h 48 min
Write how many hours and minutes is:
a) 85 min
b) 126 min
c) 360 min
Calculate how many hours and minutes is:
a) 50 min + 36 min
b) 124 min + 15 min
c) 290 min + 30 min
Calculate how many hours and minutes is:
a) 2 h 30 min + 1 h 16 min
b) 3 h 24 min + 5 h 15 min
In the picture there is a graph illustrating the solution of the following exercise:
Calculate what time is now, if 5 hours 15 minutes passed from the hour 7:45.

In the same way, calculate what time will be after:
a) 1 hourhour 35 min passes from the hour 6:40
b) 2 hour 45 min passes from the hour 14:40
An extra task:
Tomek was sleeping from 21.05 till 7.15. How much time did he sleep? What time did he leave for school, if taking a shower and eating a breakfast took him 25 min?
Remember:
Hours can be written in different ways:
- 7:40 or 7.40 or 7Indeks górny 4040Indeks dolny , Indeks dolny koniec ,
- 1 dayday= 24 hours,
- 1 hour = 60 minutes,
- 1 minuteminute = 60 seconds,
- 1 quarterquarter = 15 minutes.
We often use shortcuts:
- hourhour - h,
- minuteminute – min.
Do the revision exercises.
