Lesson plan overview
Before classes
Before the lesson, the teacher asks pupils to look for small, landscapes that are characteristic of the Mediterranean area in colorful magazines, the Internet and in their own holiday collections..
Introduction
The teacher explains the aim of the lesson and together with students determines the success criteria to be achieved.
Realization
The teacher asks students to read the abstract themselves, paying particular attention to the illustrations.
Participants familiarize themselves with the content presented in the interactive illustration. Then the teacher discusses the issues with the students.
Students are selected into groups. Each team on sheets of paper with an outline of the continents. Using Galeria 1. „Distribution of areas with a Mediterranean climate”, students mark placards of Mediterranean climate on posters. Posters give to the teacher.
The students consolidate the acquired information, discussing it with their nearest neighbors („tell your neighbor” method).
Students carry out the interactive exercises checking the level of knowledge learned during the lesson. The teacher initiates a discussion during which the correct solutions for all the exercises performed by the students are discussed.
Summary
The teacher asks students to finish the sentence: - I would like to go to the Mediterranean because .................................................
The teacher chooses one student by random method and asks him or her to explain in own words the meaning of a given word or concept learned during the lesson.
Homework
Develop a lap book containing issues learned during the lesson and bring your work to the next class.
Listen to the abstract recording at home. Pay attention to pronunciation, accent and intonation. Learn to pronounce the words learned during the lesson.
The following terms and recordings will be used during this lesson
Terms
wulkan – miejsce na powierzchni Ziemi, w którym z jej głębi wydostają się: lawa, gazy i popioły wulkaniczne
morze – naturalny zbiornik wodny, mniej lub bardziej wyraźnie oddzielony od oceanu brzegami kontynentu, wyspami lub półwyspami

The Mediterranean Sea
In the temperate climate zone, near the parallel of 40°N and 40°S, there is a specific climate called Mediterranean. Its name comes from the Mediterranean, although similar climatic conditions prevail in other regions of the world. Mediterranean climate occurs by the sea or ocean, but only where the air is not too humid.
In the Mediterranean climate, we distinguish two seasons. The summer is sunny, dry and warm. Winter is mild, the air temperature does not drop below 0°C, but it is often raining. The Mediterranean climate is comfortable in the opinion of the majority of people and is conducive to the development of agriculture. A common element of the Mediterranean landscape are the mountains. Due to the lower air temperature, winter precipitation in the mountains can leave a small snow cover.
Areas located in the Mediterranean climate zone are willingly visited by tourists. Tourism is definitely conducive to the natural conditions. The climate is mild and creates conditions for sunbathing and swimming in warm sea waters from spring to autumn, and for exploring throughout the year. In winter, you can also use the ski resorts in the nearby mountains. In the Mediterranean landscape, it is worth to admire both objects of natural origin as well as the works of human hands.
The tourist attractiveness of the region is undoubtedly associated with its extraordinary history. The most important ancient civilizations have developed around the Mediterranean. Here developed the culture of Egypt, ancient Greece and Rome, creating the basis of science, culture and art of modern Europe. Arabs and Turks also developed their education and art. The Eastern Mediterranean coast was the birthplace of three important religions: Judaism, Christianity and Islam. The mutual influence of all cultures and religions made the Mediterranean region unique in terms of the number of it’s monuments.
The Mediterranean climate is present on various continents, in Europe in the Mediterranean.
Summer in a Mediterranean climate is hot and dry.
Winter in a Mediterranean climate is warm and rainy.
Areas with a Mediterranean climate are particularly attractive for tourists.
