Lesson plan overview

Before classes

  • Seven days before class, the teacher asks the students to write down each day how many hours they slept during the day.

Introduction

  • The teacher gives the topic, the goals of the lesson in a language understandable for the student, and the criteria of success.

Realization

  • The teacher instructs the pupils to add all the hours of sleep from the previous week and divide the sum they received for seven days. The obtained result is written with large numbers on sheets that attach to the board.

  • Three volunteers segregate the cards and arrange them depending on the results that appear on them, in order from the largest to the smallest.

  • The lecturer asks the pupils to think about the differences in the length of sleep. Selected students give answers.

  • The teacher announces a movie. He instructs his pupils to write a research question and a hypothesis in the form provided in the abstract. Then he plays the video and the students note their observations and conclusions. The teacher points the person who shares his insights and explains the reasonableness of the conclusions noted.

  • The teacher asks pupils to exchange good sleep conditions and explain why their observance is very important.

  • Each person receives from the teacher two wide strips of paper. On each of them, he writes in large letters, legibly, one association with the word „rest”. Then the students hang their cards on the board. Four volunteers organize all associations. The teacher directs their work in such a way that two sets of associations arise: one - related to the concept of active rest, the other - referring to the concept of passive rest.

  • The persons selected by the teacher read the associations belonging to each set. The teacher asks the other students to show the differences between the two types of rest.

  • Students read the fragment „Active rest” and verify your answers. They explain why those who do mental work should be actively resting.

Summary

  • The teacher asks students to carry out the recommended interactive exercise themselves.

Rest

You sleep every night, and sometimes – when you feel tired – you can also take a nap during the day. After a sleepless or restless night, it will be hard for you to focus on the lesson, you will not even want to have fun. A tired person only thinks about sleeping, and when he sits down, his eyes close.

Sleep is the basic way to relax, during which our body renews its strength. During this time, all organs, such as the heart or brain, slow down the pace of work and rest. Too little sleep causes distraction and irritation, which may affect our relationships with other people. In addition, a sleepless person becomes more susceptible to illness and has trouble remembering new information. It is worth to sleep well each night, so that the next day have a good mood and a lot of strength to learn, which will certainly be more pleasant and easier.

We rest not only at night during sleep, but also during the day, doing activities, that make us happy. Reading books, talking to friends or watching TV is passive rest, during which we do not move too intensely. Sleep or short naps are also forms of passive relaxation. Another type of rest is active rest, that is, demanding movement. Although playing sports(physical activity) it may seem the opposite of resting, in fact it allows you to develop fitness and endurance. In addition, physical exercise ensures a strong and deep sleep. In particular, those who do mental work, and so you, should actively rest, because learning is also such a demanding job.

  • Rest (including sleep) is one of the basic needs of the body.

  • The length of sleep depends on each person and their age.

  • During sleep, our body regenerates itself - thanks to this we keep it healthy.

  • You can rest actively and passively.
