Weather is the state of the atmosphere at a particular place during a short period of time. It is the mix of events that happen in the atmosphere every day. The weather is different in each part of the world and changes every minute. Most of it takes place in the troposphere, which is the nearest to the Earth’s ground. Rain, clouds, wind, snow, heat, and sunshine are very different conditions, but still they are all weather.  We call them various types of weather. The weather pattern that appears in a place for decades is called climate. Different parts of the world have different regional climates. Due to global climate change, weather patterns are likely to change as well. Understanding types of weather may help us comprehend how the environment and world work. The branch of science that focuses on the phenomena of the atmosphere and means of predicting the weather is called meteorology.

Some extreme weather and climate events have drastically increased in the last decades. More and more is said that the changes are often associated with human activities. The list of extreme weather phenomena is very long, but the most deadliest are tornadoes, droughts, and floods. Higher temperatures on earth led to the loss of water in plants, which consequently led to the dying of soils. Water shortage makes it impossible for people to grow crops and feed domestic animals. Floods, on the other hand, are caused by both human and weather‑related factors. Human factors include, for example, badly constructed dams. Usually, floods take place because of intense precipitation happening in a short period of time or when the local river overflows its banks, especially in the early spring. As it comes to tornadoes, there are hundreds of them every year in the U.S.A. Most of them are quite weak, but even a few of them can cause dramatic damage. Tornadoes refer to a relatively small area. Not only do they destroy properties with their energy, but they also hurt or kill people. It is estimated that typically 60‑80 people are killed a year while another 1,500 are injured. The only pro is the fact that tornadoes are responsible for spreading small animals and plants throughout parts of the U.S.A.

The weather events are under control of the air pressure. As the air has its weight, it presses against everything it touches. And this is what we call air pressure or atmospheric pressure. We measure it by means of a barometer. When air pressure is high, the weather is beautiful with the clear blue sky. On the other hand, when it is low, air flows together and then upwards, cooling and forming clouds. It is believed that air pressure influences our mood and well‑being. Sometimes, it causes headaches, migraine or the feeling of fatigue.
