Procent jako część całości

Learning objectives

You will discover the notion of the percentage.

Learning effect

  • You write the percentage as a part of the whole.

  • You convert the percentages to the fractions and the fractions to the percentages.

  • You use English to describe the notion of the percentage.

Prepare for the lesson:

  • some labels/containers of the food products or cosmetics including the percentagepercentagepercentage share of these products,

  • 20 squared cards of identical size,

  • the piece of paper presented below:

Table

The number of the students in the class

The number of girls in the class

The number of the boys in the class

The number of students wearing glasses

Task 1
R1E6riIcvrV0n1
nagranie abstraktu

Analyse the labels/containers you have prepared and answer the following question:

  1. What does the symbol of % written on the labels/containers mean?

  2. What information can be recorded by using that symbol?

Notice, that:

  • the symbol of % means the percentagepercentagepercentage,

  • the percentagepercentagepercentage is used to specify the composition of the food products or cosmetics.

The word “percentagepercentagepercentage” comes from the Latin expression “pro centrum”, which is translated as „per hundred”.

Therefore the percent is the one hundredthone hundredthone hundredth of the wholewholewhole.

Today you are going to find out how to write the percentagepercentagepercentage in a form of the fractions. First, answer the following questions:

What do the expression „I will do it for the hundred percent”, “I understand it for the hundred percent” mean? What does the expression “fifty fifty” mean?

Compare your answers to the information below:

  1. One hundred percent is the wholewholewhole, and fifty percent is the half of the certain amount.

  2. If we mark this amount as a, we can write as following: 1%a=1100a what can be written as: 1%a=1100a.

Use the labels/containers you have prepared for the lesson.

a) Put the values of the percentage composition of the products on the label/container in the ascending order.

b) Convert the percentages on the labels/containers in the common and decimal fractions.

Discuss the method of converting the fractions in the percentage.

Notice, that:

  • We convert the fraction to the percentage by multiplying it by 100%.

Interaktywna gra, polegająca na łączeniu wyrazów w pary w ciągu jednej minuty. Czas zaczyna upływać wraz z rozpoczęciem gry. Jeden ruch to odkrywanie najpierw jednej potem drugiej karty z wyrazem. Każdy wyraz jest odczytywany. Kolejny ruch to odkrywanie trzeciej i czwartej karty. W ten sposób odsłuchasz wszystkie wyrazy. Nawigacja z poziomu klawiatury za pomocą strzałek, odsłuchiwanie wyrazów enterem lub spacją. Znajdź wszystkie pary wyrazów.
