Jasmine: Hey Dave! How are you? I’ve heard you on the campus podcast today, you’re famous! And so is our café! We were listening to it today and having a laugh!
Dave: Yes, I have to advertise my primary source of income, right? They won’t dare to fire me now, since I am promoting them in mass media, ha ha! I’m joking. The boss was happy to do it, and he agreed to everything.
Jasmine: Yes, I’m sure he is! I think he likes to help out the students on the campus. He was studying here, too! Anyway, the interview got me and my friends talking about our ways to earn money while we’re still students. It’s actually very interesting to hear about all their ideas. There’s this one girl who’s on a scholarship, she’s so lucky! Too bad I’m so rubbish with money, myself! If it wasn’t for my student loan, I would be penniless!
Dave: I’m sure you’re alright, Jasmine! I think money isn’t the most important thing, anyway. I believe we should think about others, not about money all the time.
Jasmine: Oh! You know what? I found this psychological quiz next to my morning crossword puzzle the other day. It was about the attitude to money. It would probably say something nice about you if you filled it — for example, that you get by very well! The test told me that I was probably broke, and it was right! Unfortunately, I’m so bad with my money. I never seem to have enough... There’s always some great sale or a new pair of fantastic shoes. Oh well, too bad! That’s life! If only I was rich…
Dave: Oh, Jas. Maybe you can start buying vintage shoes? They’re definitely cheaper and more fashionable — at least that’s what I heard! And they’re definitely better for the planet! The fashion industry is not very eco‑friendly and there are so many beautiful things out there that are pre‑loved!
Jasmine: You’re right! I love these quirky charity shops with the cool clothes! They send all the money they earn to people in need. That’s so cool!
Dave: Yes, they’re great, and they’re everywhere, and they are much, much cheaper than buying new things. You can get great bargains! And yes, part of your money that you spend there goes to charities like Oxfam or the Salvation Army, institutions that support those who are worse‑off.
Jasmine: I’ll definitely give them a try! When I get my wages… I think I am completely broke!
