Journalist: Hello and good evening. It’s Anna May with your local news. We will start with the latest information about a shocking discovery in the quiet and prestigious neighborhood of Kensington near central London. Some local residents noticed suspiciously looking people walking around one of the old mansions. When they called the police it turned out that a large group of squatters lives in this enormous house! It is said the house belongs to one of the well known London bankers.

Officer Johns from Metropolitan Police is with us on the phone. Can you tell us more about the case? It’s quite unusual, isn’t it?

Officer: Yes, the case is pretty unusual. When our people entered the house they discovered a group of around fifteen squatters at dinner. They were very surprised but stayed calm, showed us their identity cards and we asked them to go to the police vans. We deal with squatters quite often, we usually interview them, record their personal details and let them go.

Journalist: This group was very different though. Can you give us some details?

Officer: Yes, we inspected the whole house and discovered it was in a very good condition. The kitchen was very clean, the bedrooms looked spotless and the grass in the garden was freshly cut. The fence was repaired.

We contacted the property owner, who had been in his holiday home in Australia at that time, to tell him his house had been broken into. He rushed back to London in his private jet to check the damages himself, but there weren’t any! He says the house is now in better shape than before.

Journalist: What do they say about the case?

Officer: They say living in such a luxurious house was a great experience for them and keeping the property in good condition was a matter of honour. They want to change the popular stereotype of squatters who are often seen as dirty, lazy people who just don’t feel like working and paying the bills. As the popular saying goes - don’t judge a book by its cover.
