When I was a kid, computers and the internet didn’t offer any accessibilities to my disability . Times have changed and now when I want to find some information about the topic, I look for websites where images include equivalent alternative text or all text in a markup or code. If all text isn’t provided for images, the image information is inaccessible to me . When equivalent text is provided, the information is readable to everyone, including me. It is also available to technologies that cannot see the images, for example search engines. When we add an image to a page in an equivalent application, an alternative text box is present to add content describing the photo.

Unfortunately, I am not able to distinguish certain shades of colour, especially between colours such as red and green, or between yellow and blue, and sometimes I have the inability to perceive any colour. It is a great help to me if a website provides sufficient contrast using colours and textures when using graphs.There is a rule that dark text should be on a light background and bright text on a dark background.  Too little contrast makes the content difficult to read. There can be text on images, icons, and buttons, too. Moreover, the content generally works better in different lighting conditions, for instance sunlight or glare.

Because I am wheelchair‑bound and can only move my head, doesn’t mean I cannot do some things on my own. This device is the key to the whole world to me and I can use it for a great number of purposes. First of all, I can operate my mobile phone or tablet while holding the rod in my mouth. Right now I am quite fast at typing . I have a special kind of table fixed to my wheelchair and a holder on it. Every time I am done with surfing the net, I put it on this holder. You might be surprised to hear that, but I can also close and open the entrance door, turn the light off,  or fold the laundry with it ! It is so helpful!

I love watching movies. Despite my disability I still enjoy them. I may not go to the cinema to watch every movie premiere, as hardly any cinema offers accessibilities to people with my disability. That means that I have to stay home and watch it there. I found the way to watch the films I want, though. It turns out that it is possible to use information in podcasts and other audio when it is provided in an alternative format such as text transcriptions.  I always make sure the video content has subtitles or accurate captions, including descriptions of non‑spoken sounds like cheer, rain, and laughter as not all of them already have them.
