Cooking with your familyMy family loves having dinner partiesdinner parties. My parents hosthost them every month. They invite a lot of people and we prepare a lot of dishes. First, we go to the grocery store. We visit the bakery and buy some fresh bread. Then, we go to the produce sectionproduce section and buy fruits and vegetables. Finally, we visit the dairy and meat sections to buy eggs, milk, and meat. At home, we unpackunpack the food and cook together. Each of us has a specific taskspecific task.
My dad always cooks startersstarters. He makes a lot of finger foodfinger food. For example, for this month’s party, he’s making bruschetta. Bruschetta is grilledgrilled bread with choppedchopped tomatoes, garlic, and olive oil. I always help my dad. I’m my dad’s favourite helper. He tells me things like, “Chop the tomatoes. Then, add them to a bowl. SprinkleSprinkle them with salt and pepper. Mix!” I love helping him! My mom usually makes the main course. For this month’s party, she’s making roasted chickenroasted chicken with potato puree. I’m my mom’s favourite helper, too! She asks me things like, “First, peelpeel the potatoes. Then, fill the potpot with water and put it on a medium flamemedium flame. Boil for 30 minutes.”
Desserts are my duty, but my parents are my helpers! For this month’s party, I’m making browniesbrownies! I tell my parents what to do. I tell my mom, “Crack 2 eggsCrack 2 eggs into a bowl. Add two cups of flour.” And then I tell my dad, “Chop the chocolate bar and add it to the bowl.” I add cocoacocoa, oil, and mix everything together. Then, I pourpour it into the baking panbaking pan. My dad puts it in the oven.
After we finish cooking, we clean the kitchen together. I put the food backput the food back into the fridge. My dad washes the dishes. My mom wipes the countertopswipes the countertops. I love cooking with my family. It’s so much fun!
