Obie konstrukcje – made oforazmade from – oznaczają „zrobiony/zrobiona z”, „wykonany/wykonana z”. Używamy ich jednak w innych kontekstach.
Made of
Tę konstrukcję stosujemy, mówiąc o przedmiocie wykonanym z materiału, który można rozpoznać na pierwszy rzut oka i który nie zmienił swojej formy.
Przykłady:
This table is made of wood. – Ten stół jest zrobiony z drewna.
(Widać, że jest to drewno, jego forma nie uległa zmianie).
This toy is made of plastic. – Ta zabawka jest zrobiona z plastiku.
(Patrząc na zabawkę, możemy stwierdzić, że do jej wykonania użyto plastiku).
Made from
Tego wyrażenia używamy, mówiąc o przedmiocie, który został wykonany z materiału tak mocno przetworzonego, że na pierwszy rzut oka nie widać, z czego ten przedmiot został zrobiony.
