It’s all over now, Mum, so you can stop worrying! The doctor gave me a patch test, which didn’t hurt at all. The nurse put some allergens on it and then put it on my forearm. I had to wait for about 15 minutes, and then the doctor checked if there was any contact dermatitis, and actually some part of my skin was red and swollen a bit, so it looks like I am allergic to grass and dust mites. The doctor told me not to worry. I have only mild symptoms and some antihistamines will solve the problem. Will tell you more about it when I come back home!

Navigating Allergies
Living with allergies is a constant battle. Do you realise that individuals face many challenges in their daily lives? Allergies occur when the immune system reacts to a substance, an allergen, triggering uncomfortable symptoms. Fortunately, there are ways to cope with these difficulties.
Food allergies can make mealtime a minefield. You can’t imagine how a dinner invitation becomes an exercise. Unfortunately, reading labels and informing others about dietary restrictions is not all struggle. Then, there are unexpected reactions so out of a sudden you come out in a rash or start sneezing. What’s more, outdoor activities can turn into a source of discomfort and you end up stuck at home in spring and summer. Itchy eyes and a runny nose are all‑too‑familiar symptoms, aren’t they?
Is there anything we can do to alleviate the symptoms? Yes! An allergy test is the first step. This helps in recognizing the allergy trigger, whether it's pollen causing hay fever, dust mites leading to itchiness, or certain foods. Once identified, it's important to take steps to alleviate the symptoms. To minimise the impact, an elimination diet is effective. We can also monitor pollen counts and limit outdoor activities during peak allergy seasons. Cleaning your room regularly can also provide relief and for skin allergies I suggest using lotions and staying hydrated.
No matter how challenging allergies can be, with the right approach, you can minimise their impact. Remember, with knowledge and proactive measures, allergies need not define your daily experiences.
