Hi John,
I’m writing because of a very interesting lesson on copyrights I have had recently.
Two weeks ago one of my classmates was caught distributing illegal copies of some parts of our coursebook. He claimed he didn’t know it was illegal.
As a result of this event, our teacher prepared a special assignment in which each of us had to make a presentation on a given issue connected to copyrights. My presentation was about two types of copyright: moral and economic rights. I gave examples of each one, explained which ones are hereditary or transferable, and how you could waive these rights.
This lesson was exceptional. I learnt so much about copyright, for example about types of Creative Commons licences, or situations when we were liable for infringement.
Now I realise how important copyright is and I'm going to put this knowledge to active use in my everyday life. Thus I know where to look for legal images, so I won’t infringe on somebody’s work!
Got to finish now. Take care and write to me soon!
