I learned that Poland suffered from a severe flood in 1997. We call it the Millenium Flood. It covered the southern and western parts of the country. It was caused by two huge rainfalls that happened one after the other in a short time. People lost their life properties then. It took many years to rebuild the houses and clean the roads.

You are very into the topic of natural disasters, such as droughts and floods. You want to write an email to your friend and share your knowledge with him/her. In the email:
clarify in what way droughts are dangerous to people;
mention how floods are created and what their positive consequences are;
describe the flood or drought that took place in your country;
explain how we should take care of water supplies at home and in the city.
Exam tipazurewhite
wyjaśnisz, jakie niebezpieczeństwo dla ludzi stanowią susze;
wytłumaczysz, jak zazwyczaj powstają powodzie i jakie mogą być ich pozytywne skutki;
opiszesz przypadek powodzi lub suszy, która nawiedziła twój kraj;
wyjaśnisz, w jaki sposób powinniśmy dbać o zasoby wodne w domu i w przestrzeni publicznej.

Hi Kate,
How are you? I decided to write to you because I want to share some information about natural disasters with you.
It's obvious that droughts appear due to prolonged shortages of water. The lack of rain affects the whole society as there is little drinking water supply in the groundwater, which leads to weak crops and food shortage.
Floods, on the other hand, are caused by heavy rains and the land’s lack of capacity to absorb it. That results in flooded streets and destroyed property. There is something positive about it, though. It provides soil with sediment and nutrients, which work as fertilisers.
I remember the Millennium Flood that took place in Poland in 1997 when two heavy rainfalls took place one after the other. The whole South and West of Poland was flooded and devastated.
I strongly believe that we must conserve water supplies. We must reduce the amount of water we use daily by taking a short shower or turning the tap while brushing our teeth. Do you agree?
