Exercise 1
RFEW5V8vScmAq
Read the text and highlight in purple the phrases connected with the examples of inappropriate behaviour during online learning. When our school first introduced distance learning, most students had to learn how to apply the rules of the netiquette. Many younger boys used chat boxes inappropriately, discussing the latest football scores during the lessons. Other students kept their webcams off most of the time, so their teachers struggled to keep eye contact and make sure everybody was paying attention. Some people didn’t realise how many background noises there were in their homes and didn’t mute their microphones, so we could all hear their barking dogs or crying siblings. Many students tagged teachers in photos posted on school forums with funny comments, which caused them trouble. We also had to learn to double-check our emails before sending them, as many were dispatched to teachers with punctuation or spelling mistakes. Luckily, after some time we managed to understand the rules of the netiquette and now our online learning experience is much better. I still miss face-to-face school, though!
