The most important person in the world
you will name features of different people
you will talk about a poem
you will write a poetic text
Our world is made up of family and friends: every day they give us reasons to smile, be joyful and happy. And sometimes – unfortunately – they make us angry and sad. We cannot imagine life without them, though! Without them life would be boring. Let us think warmly of them: what they are like, their likes and dislikes. Let us invite them in our minds to the lesson we are about to start.
Listen to the rendition of Piotr Wawrzeniuk's poem “Strażaczka” in the lesson “Najważniejszy człowiek na świecie” at epodreczniki.pl. Discuss the poem in groups. Each group will handle one stanza. Tell your colleagues from other groups about the mom in “your” stanza. Who is mom? What does she do? What does she like? What does she dislike?
In the poem show words and phrases that are associated with a profession, but have other meanings as well, e.g. Mama generał nie lubi generalnych porządków. Think about different meanings of those words and phrases.
Come up with an interesting, unusual profession for a mom, dad or another close person. What associations do you have with this profession? What would a veterinarian mom, veterinarian dad or pilot aunt do at home? You can use Piotr Wawrzeniuk’s poem as a template.

Read the following idioms. Do you understand all of them? Divide them into two groups: expressing positive and negative opinions about people.
robi słodkie oczy, ma dziurawe ręce, idzie z duchem czasu, szuka dziury w całym, złota rączka, słoń jej / mu nadepnął na ucho, buja w obłokach, pracowita jak mrówka, mól książkowy, alfa i omega, ma dwie lewe ręce, dobrze jej / mu z oczu patrzy

Write (here or in your notebook) a poem about a close person: mom, dad, brother, sister, grandma or grandpa.
Method I – use “Strażaczka” by Piotr Wawrzeniuk as a template.
Method II – answer questions that may help you to create the poem:
Who is your mom?
What does she do?
What are her interests?
What makes her excited?
What weather does she like?
What is her favourite flower?
Method III - finish sentences below and come up with a title for your poem.
My mom is...
She looks like...
She has...
She likes...
She does...
I love my mom...
Choose one of the people who are closest to you and draw her or his portrait.
