Prepare the ruler and sticky notes with the following numbers written on them:

•  -300, -250, -200, -150, -100, -50, 0, 50, 100

•  -0.4, -0.2, 0, 0.2, 0.4, 0.6, 0.8, 1, 1.2

• -10, -9, -8, -7, -6, -5, -4, -3, -2, -1, 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10

and the sign of an arrow $\to$.

Today you are going to read and determine the numbers on the number linenumber linenumber line.

Choose the cards with numbers -3, -2, -1, 0, 1, 2, 3 and the arrow sign $\to$. Put them in front of you in the ascending order. Place the card with the highest number on the right side of the card with the sign of an arrow $\to$, the line with specified orientation, the arbitrary point 0 (the beginning) and the unit segment is called the number line.

Answer the following questions:

• What numbers are at the same distance from the beginning on the number line? How are they called?

• Where can we use the models of the number lines in our everyday life?

Now choose the cards with numbers‑10, -8, -4, -2, 0, 2, 4 and the sign of an arrow $\to$. Put them in the ascending order. Place the card with the sign of an arrow $\to$, on the right side of the card with the highest number.

Discuss the examples of the numbers on the number line among the numbers -10, -8, -4, -2, 0, 2, 4. Do the same with the numbers -9, -6, -3, 0, 3, 6, 9.

Think of any examples of the numbers on the number line among the numbers -9, -6, -3, 0, 3, 6, 9.

Notice that:
