Lesson plan overview (Process)

Introduction

1. The teacher determines the purpose of the class: students will talk about trust.

2. The teacher points out that trust, friendship and faithfulness are universal values that are a common subject of literary or film works.

3. On the interactive board in the abstract, students write out as many associations with the word trust as they can find, then they look for the meaning of the words trust (zaufanie) and to trust (ufać) in the dictionary, form sentences with them, and explain the expression kredyt zaufania.

Realization

1. The teacher begins a conversation about the „Lord of the Rings” fragment, read by students at home, and encourages to perform an interactive exercise: solving the single‑choice test (checking the understanding of the text read).

2. Interactive exercise: ordering events, starting from the earliest (the difficulty may be applied to the text retrospective).

3. Analysis of the characters' emotions. The students, working in pairs, reflect on the motivations of Frodo's friends and the feelings of the main character.

4. Enrichment of vocabulary with idioms from the text of the novel. Students perform exercise No. 6.

5. The teacher tells the students that in ancient Greece, Pistis was the personification of trust and Fides – of integrity and good faith, then the students search on the Internet the images of the Fides and indicate the attributes of the Roman goddess.

6. The students, based on the text read and conclusions from the lessons, try to create their own definition of trust.

Summary

The teacher gives students short surveys with self‑evaluation.

Then he/she sums up the classes, giving students the task:

Justify that trust is the basis of interpersonal relations.
