Lesson plan overview

Before classes

  • Students get acquainted with the content of the abstract. They prepare to work on the lesson in such a way to be able to summarize the material read in their own words and solve the tasks themselves.

  • The teacher invites a school nurse to classes..

Introduction

  • The teacher explains the aim of the lesson and together with students determines the success criteria to be achieved.

Realization

  • The teacher writes on the board numbers: 111, 112, 113, 114 and asks the students to indicate the all‑European emergency number. Then, it tells students how to properly inform the services about the need to help..

  • The teacher presents and discusses the photo gallery. Students analyze the illustrations and answer the teacher's questions.

  • The lecturer invites you to the school nurse classes, which will present the pupils how to put on a triangular scarf when breaking. The teacher instructs the students to write a research question and a hypothesis in the form provided in the abstract. Then the students perform the experiment, record their observations and conclusions. The teacher points the person who shares his insights and explains the conclusions made..

  • The teacher asks the students to train in a pair, alternately, in accordance with the instructions (Gallery 2 and film) first aid during the dislocation of the finger and forearm fracture, using the appropriate materials from the teacher's desk (set of bandages, shawls, patches). The teacher controls the correctness of the task.

  • The teacher asks students to carry out the recommended interactive exercise themselves.

Summary

  • At the end of the class, the teacher asks the students questions:

    • What did you find important and interesting in class?

    • What was easy and what was difficult?

    • How can you use the knowledge and skills you have gained today?

    Willing/selected students summarize the lesson.

Homework

  • The teacher asks pupils to do homework placed in the abstract at home.

  • Listen to the abstract recording at home. Pay attention to pronunciation, accent and intonation. Learn to pronounce the words learned during the lesson.

First aid

It may happen that you will witness or suffer an accident. Everyone should know how to behave in such a situation. It is worth knowing how to identify an injury so that you can provide appropriate first aid. If we help the victim before the ambulance arrives, we will increase his or her chances for a fast recovery without complications.

If you see an injured person, it is important to call help. However, there are some basic first aid procedures that everyone should be able to perform. It is because you and the injured person may find yourselves in a hard‑to‑reach place (e.g. in the middle of a forest) and you will have to rely only on each other for some time.

Try to immobilize a schoolmate’s arm with a triangular sling on your own (you can use a neck scarf for this purpose).

After providing first aid to the victim, call appropriate services! It is necessary to remember the emergency telephone numbers:
112 – general emergency number from mobile phones,
992 – emergency gas service,
997 – police,
998 – fire brigade,
999 – ambulance service,
When calling emergency services, provide your first name, surname and the number of the phone from which you are calling. Describe what has happened and where it took place. Describe the victim’s injuries and condition.

  • In the case of an accident, the ability to provide first aid to victims is very important.

  • You can identify many injuries on your own and put on appropriate bandage before a visit to hospital.

  • Emergency numbers should be memorized.
