London

The British capital is full of landmarks. We see them in movies and read about them in books. One such famous landmark is Westminster Abbey. The old cathedralcathedralcathedral is where the English crowncrowncrown their kings and queens. It is also where the royalsroyals [royal]royals have their weddingsweddings [wedding]weddings. Finally, it is where many royals have their tombstombs [tomb]tombs. Westminster Abbey is not only the place of royal events. It is a crucialcrucialcrucial part of English history. But London is more than old buildings. There are many modern landmarks that Londoners and tourists can admireadmireadmire.

New York City

Just like London, New York City is an important part of the global culture. Everyone knows about the city and what it’s famous for. For example, can you think of New York without its iconiciconiciconic Brooklyn Bridge? It’s one of the oldest bridges in the world and one of New York’s most important landmarks. There isn’t a Hollywood film about New York City that doesn’t feature the Brooklyn Bridge. New York City, just like London, changes constantlyconstantlyconstantly and has many modern landmarks, too.

Toronto

While Toronto might not be as popular as London or New York City, it has numerousnumerousnumerous landmarks that everyone can recogniserecognisable [recognise]recognise. The most famous one is the CN Tower. It looks like a very tall needleneedleneedle which you can see from miles away. It is a popular tourist spottourist spottourist spot. It was built in 1976 and is more than 550 metres tall. You can take one of its 11 lifts to admire the view from the top.

Sydney

For many, Australia is the end of the world. Yet most of us recognise the famous Sydney Opera. The impressive opera building has been open since 1973. It was opened by Queen Elizabeth II. More than 8 mln tourists visit the Sydney Opera every year. The opera is where all the New Year’s celebrations take place and it is so famous because Australia celebrates New Year before other continents.
