My School is Diverse and It MattersI live in London – one of the most multiculturalmulticultural cities in the world. Every day, I see people of different racesraces and ethnicities. This is especially true at my school.
My school has a great atmosphere. Every week, there’s a meeting where students can discuss things they care about. We often talk about equalityequality and acceptanceacceptance. We want every voice to matter. At my school, we try to understand cultural differencescultural differences and acceptaccept them.
However, acceptance is about more than race and ethnicity. True diversitydiversity includes all kinds of people who’ve had different experiences in life. That’s why our school is a space accessible to allaccessible to all. For example, the school building has numerous facilitiesfacilities (such as elevators) for students with disabilitiesstudents with disabilities. Some people need more help than others, and it’s important they get it.
Every year, we celebrate Diversity DayDiversity Day. Diversity Day is an event where every student can talk about such things as equality. We also organise a food fair with dishes from different cultures. I’m proud to be a student at my school!
