The most surprising information is the fact that substances which we nowadays refer to as E‑numbers were already used in ancient times. So far I have associated E‑numbers with industrially produced chemical compounds. It turned out that many of them are natural substances known to mankind for centuries.

In my family, we usually keep food stored in the fridge to prevent its decay. One doesn't have so much time to get fresh food any moment, so we also freeze some foods (especially meats) so that it is available when we need it. We occasionally dry some sausages we get from our relatives in the country.

We don't make our own smoked food, as it happened a few decades ago, we don’t really have time to do it (so my mother says). Nevertheless, my grandmother still makes preserves and I actually love her blackberry jam. My mother used to make some too, but since we moved to the big city and both my parents work a lot, we mostly buy ready‑made products in shops. And of course we sometimes go to visit grandma and come back with a fresh supply of jars!
