LESSON STAGES

Introductionm68971a8a6426937d_1528450127855_0Introduction

The teacher discusses multimedia, a presentation and a presentation programmepresentation programmepresentation programme, and points to the differences between them.

Multimedia is content that combines different content forms (text, audio, images, animationsanimationanimations, video) in order to convey information or entertain an audience.

A presentation is a public appearance which aims to present knowledge to an audience by a speaker.

A presentation programme is a type software which uses computer graphics to create the sets of consecutively displayed slides presented in order to illustrate a topic in a systematic way.

Procedurem68971a8a6426937d_1528446435040_0Procedure

There are two types of multimedia presentationsmultimedia presentationmultimedia presentations:

– a multimedia presentationmultimedia presentationmultimedia presentation which complements a lecture;
– individual autopresentation.

In a presentation programme a slide is a basic element of a presentation – it is the equivalent of a single film frame or a single page of text. The presentation consists of a sequence of slides. When a slide show is run, the slides are displayed on the screen in a defined sequence.m68971a8a6426937d_1527752263647_0In a presentation programme a slide is a basic element of a presentation – it is the equivalent of a single film frame or a single page of text. SlideslideSlide transitions are the animationanimationanimation effects that occur when you move from one slide to the next during a presentation. You can control the speed and adjust the properties of transition effects. Sound can be also added to transitions.

The design process of a presentation, easy though it may be, should include the following stages:

– plan the presentation;
– create the appropriate number of slides;
– add content to the slides;
– define the parameters of displaying the presentation;
– link the slides with one another and with other documents;
– create additional notes;
– export the presentation to a specified format.

Instruction

The teacher creates a presentation which includes some slidesslideslides that are  inadequately designed. The students are asked to note their remarks about every slide. They assess crucial elements such as: Is the backgroundbackgroundbackground applied to the slide appropriate? Does it facilitate the reception of the content? Is the text readable? etc. After discussing all the slides the students suggest the solutions in order to correct the design. They can vote for the best proposal.

The students together with the teacher formulate the features of a good presentation:

– choose the type and size of fontfontfont so that the text is readable and visible from a long distance;
– match the illustrationsillustrationillustrations with the content of the slide;
– reduce the amount of text on the slide;
– plan the layout of all elements of the slide;
– match the colours of the backgroundbackgroundbackground and fontsfontfonts.

Even the best presentation in terms of technical requirements will not affect the audience if its content is not interesting enough. When you want to create a presentation, prepare for it by planning what you want do. Prepare a draft of the layout of all elements. Prepare earlier all materials which you want to include in your presentation: texts, images and other necessary elements. Choose the appropriate graphical form of the presentation in order to make it readable for the audience.
