Introductionmc29f143e4fc4b99c_1528450127855_0Introduction

The teacher introduces the topic of the lesson: revising the notion of the area of the figurefigurefigure and discovering the basic units of the areaunits of the areaunits of the area.

The students work in groups. Each of them gets ten identical squares which are used to construct a figure.

After completing the task the students discuss which figurefigurefigure has the largest area and explain why is that.

Examples of the figures made of ten squares.

Students look at pictures.

Conclusion:

Let’s take one square as a unit of the area.

All figures consist of ten identical squares so all of them have got the same area.

Revision of the basic units of the area.

Proceduremc29f143e4fc4b99c_1528446435040_0Procedure

Today the students are going to develop their skills of converting the units of the areaunits of the areaunits of the area.

[Slideshow]

The students work individually using their computers. They are going to watch the method of converting the larger units of the area into the smaller ones.

They come up with the conclusion:

1 cmIndeks górny 2 = 100 mmIndeks górny 2

1 dmIndeks górny 2 = 100 cmIndeks górny 2

1 mIndeks górny 2 = 100 dmIndeks górny 2

1 a = 100 mIndeks górny 2

1 ha = 10 000 mIndeks górny 2

1 kmIndeks górny 2 = 100 ha

Task 1

Students complete the equalities:

a) 23 a = … mIndeks górny 2
b) 7 ha = … mIndeks górny 2
c) 1,4 a = … mIndeks górny 2
d) 6,3 ha = … mIndeks górny 2

They complete the tasks.

Task 2

Complete.

a) 6 dmIndeks górny 2 = … cmIndeks górny 2
b) … mIndeks górny 2 = 2 kmIndeks górny 2
c) 1,2 cmIndeks górny 2 = … mmIndeks górny 2
d) … dmIndeks górny 2 = 370 cmIndeks górny 2
e) … ha = 600 a

Task 3

Answer the following questions:

a) How many squares with the area of 1 cmIndeks górny 2 are needed to construct the square with the area of 1 kmIndeks górny 2?
b) How many squares with the area of 1 mmIndeks górny 2 each are needed to construct the square with the area
of 1 mIndeks górny 2?
c) How many squares with the area of 1 dmIndeks górny 2 are needed to construct the square with the area of 1 a?
mc29f143e4fc4b99c_1527752256679_0a) How many squares with the area of 1 cmIndeks górny 2 are needed to construct the square with the area of 1 kmIndeks górny 2?
b) How many squares with the area of 1 mmIndeks górny 2 each are needed to construct the square with the area
of 1 mIndeks górny 2?
c) How many squares with the area of 1 dmIndeks górny 2 are needed to construct the square with the area of 1 a?

The students analyse the drawing below. Three figures (each in different colour) were drawn in the square with the area of 1 dmIndeks górny 2.. What are the areas of the blue, green and orange figures? What part of the square is each of them?

[Illustration 1]

The students come up with the conclusion:

1 cmIndeks górny 2 = 0,01 dmIndeks górny 2

Task 4

The students convert the units of the areaunits of the areaunits of the area.

a) 12 cmIndeks górny 2 = … dmIndeks górny 2
b) 2 dmIndeks górny 2 = … mIndeks górny 2
c) 312 a = ... ha
d) 12 cmIndeks górny 2 = … dmIndeks górny 2
e) 456 ha = … kmIndeks górny 2
f) 89 mmIndeks górny 2 = … mIndeks górny 2

Conclusion:

1 dmIndeks górny 2 = 0.01 mIndeks górny 2

1 mmIndeks górny 2 = 0.01 cmIndeks górny 2

1 cmIndeks górny 2 = 0.0001 mIndeks górny 2

1 a= 0.01 ha

1 ha = 0.01 kmIndeks górny 2

1 mIndeks górny 2 = 0.01 a

Task 5

The area of the plot of the Nowak family is 0.6 ha, and area of the plot of the Kowalski family is 80 a. which plot is larger?mc29f143e4fc4b99c_1527752263647_0The area of the plot of the Nowak family is 0.6 ha, and area of the plot of the Kowalski family is 80 a. which plot is larger?

An extra task:

10 g of the phosphoric fertilizer is used per 1m2 of the land. How many tonnes of the fertilizer are needed to fertilise the field with the area of 1.5 ha?

Lesson summarymc29f143e4fc4b99c_1528450119332_0Lesson summary

The students do the summarising tasks .

Then they sum up the classes, drawing conclusions to memorise:

1 cmIndeks górny 2 = 100 mmIndeks górny 2

1 dmIndeks górny 2 = 100 cmIndeks górny 2

1 mIndeks górny 2 = 100 dmIndeks górny 2

1 a = 100 mIndeks górny 2

1 ha = 10 000 mIndeks górny 2

1 kmIndeks górny 2 = 100 ha
